Okay, so my hubby says that I am totally changing...I think I am becoming my grandmother. I find myself now cleaning all the time. When Justin was little, I wasn't concerned about the kitchen being cleaned or the floor, but now that he is bigger I want it to be clean. . . and I find myself cleaning more! Is this normal? Am I being overly anal? Todd isn't complaining, says it is actually funny to him, we have swaped places (he was always the clean dude).
It just seems that being home all day and now with Justin walking all over the house, there is constantly clutter and stuff he has taken from one room to the next etc...and the kitchen floor always seems like it needs to be cleaned, so I have been sweeping daily (is this normal???) Does it get worse the more you have?
I can say that I am proud to not be a swiffer snob anymore. I have some left over, but will sweep instead...this costs less and I am not putting the swiffer sheet in the landfill. One step toward being greener.....

I think it is just that our perceptions/priorities change with kids. What was clean before was clean for an adult, but now clean for kids is different. People always said I would get less clean with kids since I wouldn't have time to clean, but I don't think this has really happened. I still try to keep things neat and clean. Doesn't ALWAYS happen...
I have to say that I clean more now that I am a mom, but the house is still ALWAYS cluttered. The toys are always all over the floor, and the minute the floor in the kitchen or dining room is clean, Alexa spills her food on it, or I cook something. The carpet is always needing to be cleaned even though we had it cleaned maybe 6 months ago. In fact, David asked yesterday if I would like to have the carpets cleaned as a Mother's day gift. I tried to politely point out that while I didn't need a Mother's Day gift, and I would like to have the carpets cleaned, it wasn't really my idea of a gift to do something that needed to be done anyway for the good of the whole family. It seems to be really hard for him to understand the fine distinction between things that I are nice to have/get done, and things that are good gifts on a personal level. (Yarn, books, books about knitting, spinning) OK-so I just went way off topic. Anyway-I aspire to getting back in the Flylady schedule of cleaning stuff. You should check her out if you haven't yet. Flylady.net or something like that. I'm shutting up now
Sometimes I clean because I will fall asleep if I sit down and get too comfy.... :)
I totally agree....with kids I get more clean. There are places that you just want sparkling clean...germs, eww! Anyway, as for the swiffer, I got rid of mine. I like the old fashioned get on your hands and knees and scrub with a sponge. Don't trust it any other way. That way I can really see if things are getting clean or not. But alas there are some days that just go by when I want to just play with the kids. Cleaning can always be done in the next day or when they go to sleep.
While it's important to clean, I've always loved this poem:
BABIES
Cleaning and cooking can wait 'till tomorrow
For babies grow up, as we've learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep,
I'm rocking my baby, and babies don't keep.
I printed that out to put on my refrigerator next to my chore list.....that will keep things in perspective especially when I am starting to feel overwhelmed.
I just scrapbooked a page about taking the time to STOP and enjoy my boys. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with laundray, dishes and diapers. But I wanted to remind myself how fast it goes! I think I will post it, and maybe all you moms can enjoy the reminder too. :)
